Fresno Chaffee Zoo sits inside Roeding Park, just west of Highway 99 on Belmont Avenue. It keeps more than 190 species across exhibits that include Sea Lion Cove, an African Adventure with elephants and lions, and a winding tropical rainforest aviary.

Kids can feed the giraffes from a raised platform and touch live stingrays at Stingray Bay. Both cost a little extra on top of admission. Most families spend two to three hours here.

Go in the morning during summer. Afternoons in Fresno run past 100 degrees and shade between exhibits is limited. Parking is free.
